Gary grew up in New Zealand and spent his childhood surrounded by animals. He graduated from the Veterinary Medicine Program at Massey University, New Zealand in 2012. Upon graduation, he began working in mixed practice in rural New Zealand, which eventually piqued his interest in working dog medicine and surgery. He was also fortunate enough to work with the yellow-eyed penguin conservation effort while in New Zealand.
After catching the travel bug, he began travelling the world, stopping to practice as a veterinarian in Australia and volunteer for Rabies prevention programs in Asia. After a few years of working in Vancouver, he met his future wife and made his ultimate move to her hometown, Edmonton.
Gary has extensive experience in emergency medicine and surgery, as well as general practice. Additionally, he has served as the Medical Director for the VCA General Veterinary Hospital here in Edmonton. He continues to receive training in ultrasound and surgical practice. His full professional profile can be found here.
Outside of work, you can find Gary hiking, travelling, reading or spending time with his 2 adopted fluffballs, Momo and Inky. He is a committed Edmontonian and looks forward to meeting everyone at the new practice.
