All About Cats and Kittens!

If you are thinking about getting a kitten, but you are not quite sure yet, or just want to do some more research about it, you have come to the right page.

We do work with local rescue organizations, so please be sure to check out their pages as well. Click here to open the page for a list of rescue organizations we work with. If you are thinking about getting a purebred animal,  we like this cat breed selector tool. You can look for hypoallergenic breeds as well.

As most of the cats are indoors these days, we advise you to have a look at indoor cat health initiative which covers a range of topics from basic husbandry to troubleshooting some common health issues.

Another commonly asked question is whether one should get pet insurance or not. From an animal health perspective, pet insurance is a great idea. However things get a bit tricky from a personal financial viewpoint. This article covers these issues in detail and will give you a better idea of the costs and benefits of pet insurance. For example, insurance for a female cat (~4kg in weight and 2 years of age) is around $55 per month with a $200 deductible. This varies from company to company and what coverage you are getting.

You can get a quote directly from TrupanionPetsecurePet Plan and Pets Plus Us. There are many more pet insurance companies that we work with.

Good luck with the new kitten, just make sure to hide all those rubber ties and christmas toys first! Please contact us if you have more questions. We will be happy to help you.
